Losing weight or reaching your goal weight / body type is challenging. So if this is you, congratulations on all of your hard work! Unfortunately some of the challenges don’t just stop after you get to this point. Here are some of the struggles that you may still encounter after weight loss and some tips to help!

1. Beating Yourself Up Over Slip Ups

I’m sure certain foods were considered off limits or to be only had occasionally while you were getting in shape. Now that you are where you want to be, don’t deprive yourself! Just make sure you have everything in moderation. Allow yourself to have treats every now and then; it’s part of having a healthy and balanced diet, and being able to maintain your current weight. Don’t feel bad about it.

No matter how far you come, you will most likely always want to improve. And this is a good thing! Set yourself some new goals, something challenging that you may not have been able to do before. Just because you’ve reached a point that you are happy with, doesn’t mean that you can stop exercising and go back to how you used to be. This is a lifestyle change, so keep active!

3. Dining Out

I’m sure that when you were trying to lose weight, dining out was a less frequent thing, or you ordered healthy meals rather than pizza and chips. This shouldn’t change. You should still try to minimize eating out and order as healthy as you can. Don’t get lazy with cooking or slip back into old habits. Remember – long term!

4. Adjusting To Your New Lifestyle

As I said, it is a complete lifestyle change, not just something you do for 8 weeks. Find a way to make it work for you. If you know you’re not going to get to the gym 6 times per week, then don’t set these unrealistic expectations for yourself. Just be sure to keep active and stick to healthy eating (with a balanced diet!) and do whatever you can to make this lifestyle work.
