You may not know this about me, but I’m a HUGE John Legend fan. His voice is sublime and I’m a total sucker for his coaching sessions on The Voice. But as impressive as he is, his wife is just as impressive..

Chrissy Teigen is a true powerhouse. She’s modeled for some of the top publications in the world, like Sports Illustrated, and is now changing things up by becoming a mom, a writer, and a social media paragon.

Her quick wit has been known to take down or at least frustrate some big names on the web. But it’s her commitment to her mental and physical health that really stands out.

So, how does this mom of two keep herself looking so fresh?

CHRISSY TEIGEN’S DIET

Chrissy Teigen is a major foodie! She has two published cookbooks with a third in the making and her own website where she posts various recipes.

She even seems to have gone a step further, as her recent Instagram post hints that Chrissy may be opening her own restaurant. That means people will get to enjoy her many delicious recipes in person!

While she is a foodie, Chrissy does take care of what she eats. The motto of her diet is one that everyone loves to use: “everything in moderation.”

The only difference is that Chrissy actually succeeds…most days.

BREAKFAST

For breakfast, she keeps it simple. Her favourite dishes are always egg-based. Some mornings, she’ll have an omelet packed with delicious seasonal veg and a generous sprinkle of whatever cheese she finds in the fridge. Others, she’ll grab a hard-boiled egg or two to help her fuel up before she has to corral her kiddos.

When she gets a chance, she loves whipping up a savory breakfast porridge. This dish uses oatmeal and includes sautéed mushrooms, a poached egg, and black pepper.

The combination of fiber from the oats and protein from the poached egg gives her enough energy to tackle even the busiest days with confidence.

And for that dose of caffeine in the morning, she tends to grab a green tea rather than coffee.

LUNCH

Chrissy doesn’t tend to eat lunch early in the day. Instead, she gets it in around 3 in the afternoon. Her breakfasts are hearty enough, she can easily wait that long without succumbing to her cravings

Chrissy doesn’t immediately reach for salad. Instead, she loves indulging in coconut chicken curry served over a bed of brown rice or avocado toast with chili flakes for added flavor.

If she feels like cooking, she’ll make one of her recipes from her cookbook, Cravings. Her favorite is a citrus salad with tangerines, grapefruit, and blood orange served with burrata and fresh basil. She’ll top the salad with a lemon balsamic dressing.

DINNER

Dinner, like lunch, tends to happen later in the day. She prefers to go to bed with a full stomach whenever she can. She believes it helps her avoid getting up in the middle of the night and snacking on junk food.

Most dinners, she tries to keep things simple. She’ll bake a salmon filet and serve it with sautéed spinach or a homemade tomato basil soup.

SNACKS

Her snacks aren’t always the healthiest. When she indulges, she’s been known to grab a Hot Pocket, Cup Noodles, candy, and nuts.

Chrissy also started eating a bedtime snack, a ham and cheese sandwich with mayo. She says she’ll eat half of it before falling asleep and then the other half several hours later once she wakes up.

When she’s being health conscious, she prefers to sip on homemade bone broth to keep her filled up between meals.

FOODS SHE AVOIDS

She doesn’t really avoid any foods because as long as she indulges in moderation, she can usually maintain her weight. But she has completely given up alcohol.

She felt she was relying on it too much to get through rough patches and quit cold-turkey.

CHRISSY TEIGEN’S WORKOUT ROUTINE

Chrissy Teigen may be super famous, but that doesn’t mean she’s not just like the rest of us. She has times when she’s not wild about the way her body looks, especially after having two kids.

I can tell you first-hand that having a baby definitely changes some things!

But she managed to bounce back pretty quickly. Her workout routines are pretty intense, too.

CARDIO

Chrissy admits that she’s not the biggest fan of cardio, but she recognizes that it’s important if she wants to keep her body looking photoshoot ready at the drop of a hat.

Recently she’s been getting creative with her cardio workouts and taking inspiration from none other than the queen of pop, Cher. Chrissy put together a reenactment of some of Cher’s 90’s-era workout videos.

It’s not the best way to get in serious shape. I recommend a comprehensive HIIT routine like this one instead. But it is fun and finding ways to have fun when working out is half the battle.

When she’s being more serious about cardio, she takes classes with Simone De La Rue of Body by Simone.

STRENGTH EXERCISES

Chrissy’s strength training doesn’t usually involve lifting weights. Instead, she prefers to use resistance bands and run through bodyweight exercises like the ones she runs through during her sessions with Simone.

This allows her to build lean muscle without building bulk.

If you’ve been following my blog even for a little while, you know that I’m a HUGE fan of bodyweight training. It’s one of the best ways to build strength while keeping your body lean.

It’s the perfect place to start, especially if you’re new to working out. You don’t need a gym and you don’t need any equipment to see the many benefits and changes you’re looking for.

FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE CHRISSY TEIGEN DIET AND WORKOUT

Chrissy Teigen looks amazing pretty much all the time. Her supermodel roots are strong and her commitment to staying in shape is something to aspire to.

If you tend to have a hard time putting on weight and are naturally lean, her diet method of “everything in moderation” may work for you. But the methods she uses aren’t ideal for every body type. You just have to try and see what works best for you. :)
