Nicole Scherzinger’s Diet and Workout Routine

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a little excited about the Pussycat Dolls’ reunion. Those girls threw some incredible dance moves in every performance. And, of course, every performance is dominated by the lead singer, Nicole Scherzinger

Nicole may be better known for her time as a judge on The X Factor, but one thing is for sure—she never stopped working hard and kicking butt!

She may be 41 now, but she looks just as good (if not better) than she did back in 2005. Luckily, Nicole’s pretty open about her diet and fitness in interviews and on social media so I was able to find out what exactly she does to stay fit and healthy.

THE NICOLE SCHERZINGER DIET

NICOLE’S BATTLE WITH EATING DISORDERS

Unfortunately, Nicole used to have an unhealthy relationship with food. During her time in Pussycat Dolls, she even developed bulimia and at one point it became very serious.

She’s now much healthier and she’s willing to share her story to help others who are still struggling. Here’s what she said to Cosmopolitan: “But you can recover and you can get rid of it forever. I did it and that’s why it’s so important for me to share my story…you hide it from the world, you isolate yourself. But you can beat it-do not give up, because you’re so special and you’re meant for such great things.”

NICOLE’S DIET NOW

Nicole’s die now t is surprisingly simple – everything in moderation. This means she doesn’t deny herself anything in particular, but she does try to keep things healthy when she can.

She knows that the healthier her diet is, the better she feels and the better she feels, the easier it is to keep up with her busy schedule.

Here’s what she typically eats in a day:

NICOLE’S USUAL BREAKFAST

The Nicole Scherzinger diet starts with a breakfast filled with protein and complex carbs. That’s right—she’s not on the low-carb train, but that doesn’t mean she indulges in them to excess. She still eats carbs in moderation, taking care to get her carbs from fruits, veg, and whole grains.

Her favourite breakfast is avocado toast served with poached eggs and smoked salmon. That gives her body plenty of lean protein, healthy fats, and Omega-3s. These nutrients give her the energy she needs to handle her daily workouts without slowing down her recovery.

When she’s looking for something a little different, she’s happy to indulge in bacon or healthy oatmeal filled with berries and other antioxidant-rich fruits.

The key is variety. If she’s ever tired of eating something, she’ll change it up. But she’s always careful to incorporate a balance of fats, carbs, and protein into each meal.

WHAT NICOLE EATS FOR LUNCH

For lunch, Nicole tries to keep things healthy, just like she does with breakfast. And, like breakfast, she makes sure to have enough healthy carbs and protein to fuel her up for the rest of the day.

But it’s often a smaller meal than her breakfast.

On any given day, she’ll eat something simple like a salad or sushi. This gives her a mix of fiber and protein which helps her stay fuller for longer.

If she’s not particularly hungry, she’ll have a veg-filled soup. But sometimes she’ll pick something that also has lentils, beans, or noodles to make it a bit more filling.

NICOLE’S GO-TO DINNER

For dinner, Nicole is often too busy to cook and prefers to order out or eat at a restaurant. And those meals can often be slightly more indulgent than breakfast and lunch.

She’ll typically have rice and some lean protein or a moderate portion of pasta with a side of cooked veggies. It all depends on her mood.

When she’s craving something a bit less healthy, she loves ordering Mexican food with tons of cheese and is known to indulge in a pizza every now and then.

But since she eats healthy most of the time and doesn’t indulge in junk food on a daily basis, she’s able to keep the weight off without too much effort.

SNACKS

Nicole’s lifestyle is quite busy and she often reaches for snacks between meals. She regularly snacks on almonds, fresh coconut, and baby carrots or fresh vegetables.

That doesn’t mean she won’t indulge in some French fries or salt and vinegar chips when the craving hits.

If she does, she’s careful not to overdo it.

DESSERT

If you’re thinking that Nicole probably indulges in some sweets when the urge strikes her, you’re right. But that doesn’t mean she overdoes it.

Just like everything else, Nicole exercises moderation when she decides to indulge in desserts. And often, this means eating fruit or something else healthy to satisfy her sweet tooth

That said, she tends to prefer salty snacks to sweets.

THE NICOLE SCHERZINGER WORKOUT ROUTINE

Nicole has a complicated history with her fitness. When she was in the Pussycat Dolls, she became a bit obsessed with fitness and not in a good way.

She HATED the way her thighs looked and wanted to work out as much as possible to get them to slim down. She’d even get up in the middle of the night to squeeze in a workout!

I understand what’s it like to be unhappy with some part of your body and I know that many of you feel the same way. But if you really want to change something and be more healthy, you need to do it the right way :)

If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, you know that working out more isn’t the best way to slim down your thighs. You have to be smart about it and do the right types of exercises that will help you get leaner legs.

Nicole’s workouts just weren’t working for her. Worse, she started not really liking her body in general.

NICOLE’S BODY TYPE

Nicole is a mesomorph body type which means she has great athletic potential. This body type can lose weight easily and they don’t have trouble getting toned. A lot of fitness models are actually mesomorphs!

However, if you are also a mesomorph body type like Nicole but you prefer a slimmer look, you should know that certain types of workout can build more muscle than you’d maybe like.

Don’t get me wrong, having muscle is great but I know that different women prefer different muscle size. And that’s OK :)

CARDIO

Luckily, over the time, Nicole developed a more healthy relationship with her own body and fitness so she now exercises in a much better way!

Nicole likes to start most workouts with cardio. I’m a huge cardio advocate so I think this is a great way to start your routine!

When she’s busy or on the run, Nicole gets some time in on the treadmill. She’ll typically run for about 20 minutes to help get her heart rate up.

When she’s at home, she enjoys spinning classes at SoulCycle or takes a hike in the Hollywood hills. Regardless, she likes to work up a sweat and finds that it’s always more fun when she hits the gym with friends.

Nicole also enjoys boxing which is a great cardio workout but it’s also amazing if you want to tone your arms! And I know that a lot of Victoria Secret models love boxing!

STRENGTH TRAINING

After her cardio, she does targeted strength training exercises that focus on her abs and core stabilizing muscles.

She starts with sit-ups on the exercise ball and then moves to squats to strengthen and tone her glutes and thighs. Nicole also loves doing yoga and she often shows her yoga moves on social medis!

Her favourite is hot yoga which helps keep her heart rate up while letting her build strength with every movement. This helps her tone her muscles without building bulk—ideal for someone who prefers a leaner look!

Nicole’s no stranger to lifting weights though. Her exercises vary, but she LOVES doing plyometric jumps followed by full burpees. When she’s looking to build more lean muscle, she combines side leg slides with a shoulder press using a weighted bar.

The most important thing for Nicole is to never get bored in the gym. This means she’s always trying new things and discovering new workouts.

I hope you enjoyed reading about Nicole’s fitness routine and if you have any blog post requests, let me know in the comments! :)
