Kaia Gerber Diet and Workout Routine

Kaia Gerber diet and workout routine

Kaia Gerber is a young American model with a naturally slender, slim figure but also amazing genes. Kaia is the daughter of the supermodel and icon Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber. This young woman already has some great fitness habits, and I’m so excited to share more about her with you all.

KAIA’S BODY TYPE

Like so many models, Kaia is an ectomorph. Other ectomorphs include models like Karlie Kloss, Izabel Goulart or Gisele Bündchen.

As an ectomorph, Kaia is naturally thin and she probably finds it hard to gain muscle. When you look at photos of Kaia, you notice that her limbs are naturally very slender and long. Of course, we already knew she had great genetics. :)

Ectomorphs tend to be thin, and they don’t bulk up easily. But this doesn’t mean they can eat whatever they want or skip their workouts. If ectomorphs don’t take care of themselves, they can end up looking skinny fat.

Kaia clearly doesn’t have any skinny fat going on. She keeps her body looking very toned!

KAIA’S DIET

Kaia’s young. She’s still in high school! And she doesn’t share too many personal details on social media or in the news. But she has described what her perfect day of eating would include.

BREAKFAST

Kaia enjoys bagels on a regular basis. She says food matters to her, and she always wakes up hungry. Can anybody else relate? :)

Her family grabs bagels from this Beverly Hills deli on a regular basis.

LUNCH

Kaia likes to grab steak tacos at Cafe Habana Malibu. For a treat, she likes the restaurant’s Cuban-style banana split with caramelized plantains. Sounds delicious!

I think tacos can be a very healthy option. Stick to healthy fats (avocados, anybody?), some veggies, and whole wheat tortillas!

DINNER

Kaia loves pasta. Not many of us can get away with eating carbs on a regular basis, but ectomorphs like Kaia can! She says that penne with vodka sauce is one of her favorite meals — and one of the only dishes she knows how to prepare.

EATING AS AN ECTOMORPH

Ectomorphs burn glucose (or carbohydrates) quickly. They have high metabolisms. Since Kaia is only 17, her metabolism is probably still very high.

I suggest that ectomorphs try to eat a relatively high amount of carbohydrates, some protein, and a little bit of fat. Here’s how I would break it down:

  • 40-50% carbohydrates
  • 30-35% protein
  • 20-25% fat

As with any body type, try to make sure the food your eating is healthy. I suggest sticking to whole grains and lots of fruits and vegetables. It is always best to avoid simple sugars, like white bread or processed cereals.

KAIA GERBER’S WORKOUT ROUTINE

HER MOM AS A FITNESS INSPIRATION

Kaia is a fabulous model in her own right. She’s already worked with impressive companies, been in movies, and modeled in music videos.

But she’s also always had her mom as an inspiration. Cindy Crawford and Kaia often do mother-daughter activities together (like getting facials!), and they also hit the gym together.

Cindy Crawford said in an interview that Kaia’s watched her wake up early to squeeze in a workout before a busy day, get to bed on time, and prioritize her own self-care.

LOWER BODY WORKOUT

This workout is part of how Kaia creates and tones her long, lean legs:

  • Seashell 30 times
  • Leg raises 30 times
  • Leg pulses 10 seconds
  • Clams 30 times
  • Repeat on the other leg

HIKING

Kaia enjoys hiking on all of her travels and on the paths surrounding her hometown of Malibu. She and her mom enjoy early morning hikes before breakfast.

Hiking is an excellent form of exercise. It can be a challenging, fun, and fulfilling workout.

There are a lot of benefits to hiking and doing other forms of cardio exercise first thing in the morning. Fasted cardio can help you burn more fat, instead of glucose.

Plus, walking is great for leaning out your legs without gaining muscle.

WHAT ABOUT CYCLING?

Kaia tries to go for a bike ride with her family every weekend. She calls them her weekend squad, and they love to cycle along the beach together on Saturday or Sunday mornings.

Lots of you ask about cycling and if it will help to slim down or bulk up your legs. My answer always depends on your body type!

  • If you are an endomorph, you will most almost definitely bulk up from cycling. If you don’t want bulkier legs, I would avoid cycling.
  • Mesomorphs (my body type!) can bulk up some from cycling, but they also might not. Cycling does burn a lot of calories! However, I still suggest only doing it once or twice a week.
  • Ectomorphs shouldn’t bulk up much from cycling. But most ectomorphs don’t need to do a lot of cardio. If you like cycling, that’s fine, but I suggest you do toning exercises too.

Read more about if cycling will bulk up your legs.

If you don’t know your body type, I suggest you take my free body type quiz. Understanding your body type is key to knowing how to best exercise and eat for the body you want.

WORKING OUT AS AN ECTOMORPH

If you’re an ectomorph like Kaia, you’re pretty lucky! It’s easy for you to stay slim and you can look wonderful with just a bit of toning.

Here’s what I recommend to ectomorphs that are wanting to create a thin, but toned, look:

  • Try to do resistance training three times a week. I suggest doing low weight circuit training. I show you how in my Lean Leg Video Course that has full-length videos you can follow from warm-up to cool down :)
  • Low to moderate cardio two or three times a week. I love going on walks, but runs are great too. You could also hike just like Kaia does!
  • Take one rest day a week. This helps your body repair!

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT KAIA GERBER?

Personally, I think this model is going places! She’s already making such an impact on the modeling community, and I’m excited to see where she goes. Plus, it is so fun to see the way her mom has influenced her to be herself, take care of her body, and just enjoy life!

I loved learning about her body type, the food she loves (her pasta sounds so tasty!), and the way she makes her workouts so fun with her family.
